Connect via Social Media

Do you have Facebook or Instagram? Upload a video of a service provider talking about who they are and what they do. For SOS Yorkes, this garnered over 50 shares and 3,500 views in 24 hours.

Using social media

Social media is a useful tool for Suicide Prevention Groups to connect with their community. Posting engaging content on a regular basis keeps people updated on the latest news and events in their area. Social media can also be a virtual meeting space for farmer’s to share their stories, connect with each other, and maintain social contact.

Getting started on social media can be daunting. Before creating an account, consider these questions:

  • What do you want to achieve with your social media channels? What are your goals?
  • Who are you trying to reach?
  • What kind of content do you want to share?
  • Will you establish community guidelines? (e.g. safety, inclusivity, non-judgement)
  • How often will you post?
